1) On the trades you show on the front page, it seems your trading style is to risk a lot to make relatively little. Am I missing something?
No, you're not. It's true that the risk/reward on our trades is not ideal, but that's because we take very low-risk, high-probability trades. BetOnMarkets are a bookmaker, and like any bookmaker the the odds they are willing to give diminish the more likely an event is to happen. With these high-probability trades, the chances of success are very good, and that is reflected in the odds. We generally aim to return 12-15% of the capital staked on each bet.
2) So one loss would take out the profits from a number of winning trades?
Yes, that's correct. However, such a trading strategy only becomes unviable if you cannot maintain a high enough strike rate to make it work. As mentioned above, we take very low-risk, high-probability bets, and with our knowledge and experience we are able to beat the odds BetOnMarkets gives us on these. At the time of writing this FAQ (February 2008), we have lost just one of our last 35 trades. That's a success rate of over 97%.... Our edge is proven, and it works, meaning it's just as valid as a system which risks a little to make a lot, but only wins 30-40% of the time.
3) What sort of times do you send out trades?
The nature of liquid financial markets means that we cannot state a specific time when we will send you a signal. We send the signals when, and only when, we get the confirmation we look for for a good trade. However, we trade only on weekdays, and to ensure as little interference in your everyday life as possible, we won't send a trade earlier than 10am, or later than 9pm.
4) How time-sensitive are your signals. What if I can't get to my computer when you send the signal?
Ideally, you should be able to get into your BetOnMarkets account as soon as possible after receiving a signal. As mentioned elsewhere on this site, the FOREX market is very volatile and liquid, meaning the prices often move quickly. If you can get into your BetOnMarkets account within 30 minutes of receiving the signal, then you should be able to replicate almost exactly the type of performance shown on the front page of this site. If you can't get in until later, then you may find the results vary - on some trades you will end up taking a lower return than us, while on others you may end up taking a much better return. It depends on how the market moves after we send the signal.
We have personally experimented with accessing BetOnMarkets and placing a trade from a few modern mobile phone models, and most mobile providers charge a relatively small fee for internet access on a phone, so you may want to consider this option to ensure you never miss out.
5) How many trades do you send out in a typical week or month?
We look for the best, and only the best trade setups across the 13 currency pairs offered for trading by BetOnMarkets. As a result we can't pin down an exact figure for you but here is a list of the amount of trades sent out in recent months.
Jan '08 - 7 trades
Dec '07 - 4 trades (no trading for two weeks over Christmas)
Nov '07 - 7 trades
Oct '07 - 8 trades
Sep '07 - 6 trades
6) Can your signals be used with BetsForTraders.com?
Yes, however BetsForTraders currently offer only 9 of the 13 currency pairs which we trade. Also, the duration has to be changed because BetsForTraders don't count the weekend as part of the running period of the bet - i.e a 7-day trade for BetOnMarkets would be a 5-day trade on BetsForTraders.
